Increasing Memory to View Individual WKT Geometries in a Table

Overview:

When viewing a table in GAdmin that contains WKT geometries, sometimes we do not have the option to view the individual geometries due to Tomcat memory allocation not being great enough. There is a file under Tomcat where we can increase a specific flag to then be able to view each individual geometry.

The geometries with the red icon next to them will not be viewable individually, and if clicked on we will receive a JSON error in the web-browser.

Action:

We will need write access to the following file:

/opt/gpudb/tomcat/webapps/gadmin/js/settings.js

The flag we will locate and modify is:

var GET_RECORD_FROMCOLLECTION_STRING_LENGTH_LIMIT = 512;

 Default value is 512 bytes and can be increased to the needed amount to allow for the geometries to then be individually viewable. 0 is unlimited but may be risky to use this as it may cause performance issues. It is recommended to set the value to only the needed amount.

Once we have this value modified, and Tomcat has been restarted, we can now see each geometry is individually viewable:
